|

Akhaya lentaba ('Mountain home') was designed by top architect
Heidi Zollner and is a beautiful home ideally suited to its surroundings. From
its commanding position, sweeping curved windows and glass sliding doors
celebrate the spectacular scenery. The house enjoys panoramic, uninterrupted
views of the pristine sandy bay and the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. To the
south, views of the rocky mountains are equally impressive and the house opens
onto the beautiful Baskloof Nature reserve at the back.
Organic design and expansive,
flowing spaces give this modern house an airy and light character.
Architectural detail, stained wooden floors, camphor and cedar furniture and
touches of Asian and African decor enhance the natural character of this unique
home.
Extensive open plan dining and living area with wide folding glass doors lead
onto a broad sea-facing balcony. This house is perfect for a relaxing
indoor/outdoor lifestyle. A log fireplace and under-floor heating provide
cosiness in colder weather.
The spacious kitchen has modern appliances, fine
blackwood work surfaces and gives full views onto the mountainside.
It features a five burner gas hob with extractor, electric double oven, large
double sink, set into a large granite top, a fridge/freezer and generous
cupboard space.

reserve behind.
|
There are two stories, with two bedrooms and a bathroom on each
level, offering flexibility. One downstairs bedroom features sweeping views of
the bay.
On the ground floor is a spacious flag-stoned studio with a ceramic basin.
The house has a number of creative features, including a 'bottle wall' and
glass tiles in the bathroom. |
A small lawn at the rear has a
gate leading onto the Baskloof reserve, which offers excellent walking, flora
and birdlife. To the front a terraced fynbos indigenous garden
leads down to a car-port and off-street parking for a further three cars.
Scarborough is the 'Monterey' of the Cape Peninsula, a highly desirable small
village in a spectacular setting. The safest suburb of Cape Town, most houses
are unfenced and there is a very friendly atmosphere.
Surrounded by extensive nature reserves, with a beautiful quiet beach, this
area attracts a friendly community of local and international nature lovers and
discerning holiday-makers.
It is well located for Simons Town, Kalk Bay, Cape Point and other Peninsula
attractions, including baboon, penguin and whale watching. It is less than an
hour into the city centre or the winelands via beautiful roads. There are
numerous good restaurants and golf courses on the Peninsula, and a large modern
shopping mall is only 15 minutes away.
